E-Hub: solar-powered EV charging station

Home charging is perceived as the cheapest and most comfortable option, but the majority of households in the Netherlands do not have access to a private charge point. Scaling up public charging infrastructure is a necessary development in the transition towards emission-free mobility, along with the integration of renewable energy sources. E-Hub is a thesis project that designs and implements a PV-based charging station for a fleet of ten EVs at Delft Technical University. E-Hub provides charging facilities that can be scaled up along with a competitive business model. Its battery system is able to function as a virtual power plant to supply power back to the grid at times of peak load and facilitates the stabilisation of the grid. Presentation Delft University
